God give me strength to keep moving,
the patience to keep waiting,
the understanding of my own faults,
and the ability to understand others.

Please grant me the capacity to love everyone,
the comprehension of my limits,
the aptitude to judge righteously,
and the dexterity to handle the millions of awkward situations that pop up at the worst times.

I am far from perfect Lord,
but please help me to remember that there are some things I am good at
because I have a hard time remembering that by myself some days.

But most importantly Lord,
Please help me to remember:
who I am, the place I come from, and the potential I have.

Help me to remember that I am a daughter of God.

Heard At The Daycare

So, I'm working at a day care right now and I am really loving it. Seriously. I didn't think I could handle working with kids that much, but it's great! One of the great things about it are the funny things that these younger kids say. The three and four year old's are so funny! There is this girl who is seriously the funniest, most dramatic kid I've ever met. Here are some gems from conversations that I've had with them recently:

Funny Girl: (running up to me while outside playing) Teacher! Teacher! The sharks are going to get Thomas the train! (Thomas the train is what she calls the outdoor swing set. No one knows why...)

Me: Oh no! What are you going to do?

Funny Girl: I'm going to scare them away with my super roar! (She then turns around and literally roars at the play set, then she turns back to me) Teacher, Thomas is ok now. (Goes back to playing)

And then, while eating her snack she just randomly raises her hand in the air and says "I'm sexy and I know it!"

There's this other girl who is only one but is super smart, except that she thinks horses say "Mee-Haw!"

Then there was this one time in the two year old room when we were going over all the colors with the kids in there by showing them a picture of the color and then asking them what in the room was that color. Then when we showed them a picture of the color brown and asked them what else was this color a little girl raised her hand and said (about the only black kid in the room) "(insert kids name here) is brown!"

Being around all these kids makes me wish I was their age again. Going to a place to play for 8 hours while other people feed and clean up after you? That is the life.....

Ambien

So, a lot of people know that I've been diagnosed with clinical insomnia. Most people think that this means I just can't sleep but in actuality I have a really hard time falling asleep. You see, once I fall asleep I can stay asleep as long as I need to. But getting to sleep.... That's where the trouble lies.

Anyway, insomnia comes and goes for me based on three different senarios:

1. Busy, but feeling accomplished. (Fall asleep easier)
2. Busy and stressed, and not feeling accomplished (Fall asleep harder)
3. Not busy. Bored. (Fall asleep harder)

I currently fall into the third category. I don't know why being bored makes it harder for me to fall asleep, I just know it's annoying.

I went to the doctor about this problem because I have been feeling so exhausted lately, and she gave me some Ambien to try. Now, normally I don't like taking sleep pills, they make me feel groggy and slow witted, and gross. I normally like to try things like natural Melatonin pills. But I was so desperate to get some uninterrupted sleep that I just decided to go for it and try the Ambien...... And now it's kind of my best friend.
I try not to take it too much because your body can become dependent on it, but man! That stuff is awesome.

There have been stories about the side effects of Ambien. They include sleep walking, sleep driving, sleep eating, and wild hallucinations. I can't say that I've had any of those side effects, but my entire family is hoping for some sort of wild night of sleep walking for me.  My brother would prefer it somehow involves me obtaining a lot of money ("But Lindsi! They couldn't convict you because YOU WERE SLEEP WALKING!"), and my mom is just hoping I don't accidentally kill myself while trying to sleep bike to the local 7/11 because I'm hallucinating a wild craving for a Slurpee.

Dude. It could totally happen.

Lily and Marshall

So, lately I've been watching a lot of episodes from the TV show How I Met Your Mother. People have been telling me that I would like it, and I finally sat down one day and watched an episode.... And another episode.... And another... And another. (You can see where this is going.) Anyway, while watching this totally awesome and completely hilarious show, I decided something:

Forget Bella and Edward, Romeo and Juliet, Katniss and Peeta, Lancelot and Guinevere, and Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler.... I want Lily and Marshall love.

Here are some quotes by/about these two that make me love their love:

Lily: On Monday I'm going to have to tell my kindergarten class, who I tell not to run with scissors, how my fiancee ran me through with a broadsword.
Marshall: Technically, it didn't go all the way through.
Lily: I'm sorry, were we having a discussion about the degree to which you stabbed me?

Marshall: Okay, new scenario: We're caught in a car crash, you die, I'm left paralyzed. Two sexy nurses come in with a 6-pack of wine coolers. I try to blink at them in Morse code. [bats eyes] Please... no... I love my dead wife. But they're medical professionals and I have to assume this is good for me.
Lily: Fine, sleep with your nurses. Tonight you ride the unicycle.
Marshall: [Muttering] Already did this morning.

Lily: I made you a sack lunch. [giggles]
Marshall: I love you because, one, you made me a sack lunch, and two, you laugh every time you say the word "sack.

Marshall: If I could nail a celebrity it would be Lily. She's the star of my heart.
Lily: Aww. For me it would be Hugh Jackman.

Lily: I had four strawberries.
Ted: Was there a side of champagne with each of those strawberries?
Lily: [burping] Yes!
Marshall: Lily, you could have burped, or said the word yes, but the fact that you did both is exactly why I married you.

Marshall: Wait, wait... You're not jealous?
Lily: Honey, I don't have to worry about you being about another woman.
Marshall: Because we're so hopelessly in love, right?
Lily: Yeah, sure. So, lunch?

Barney: So you and Lily really think you can spend two weeks apart?
Marshall: Y'know Barney, Lily and I are a lot less cheesy than you make us out to be.
Lily: Hey Marshmallow, don't forget to pack my night-night tape.
Barney: Night-night tape? Did you make a tape of you saying "night-night" to her?
Lily: He doesn't say it. He sings it.
Barney: Oh, that is so sweet! Why don't you kiss, I love it when two chicks make out.

Marshall: Being in a couple is hard. And committing, making sacrifices; it's hard. But if it's the right person, then it's easy. Looking at that girl and knowing she's all you really want out of life, that should be the easiest thing in the world. And if it's not like that, then she's not the one. I'm sorry.

Lily: We should come up with a whole new last name.
Marshall: Oh, that's easy; Lily and Marshall Skywalker.
Lily: Lily and Marshall Hasselhoff.
Marshall: Oh, got it. Lily and Marshall Awesome. Hey have you met the Awesomes? Lily, Marshall, their son Totally, and their daughter Freaking?

Ted: Dude, do not pretend you're not the kind of guy who keeps a list of all the girls he's slept with.
Marshall: I have one, it's called my marriage license. (Lily and Marshall high five)

Marshall: I'll go first. Lily, there are a million reasons why I love you. You make me laugh, you take care of me when I'm sick, you're sweet, caring and you even created an egg dish and named it after me. She puts a little Italian dressing on the eggs before she cooks em, it's called Eggs Marshall and it's awesome. But the main reason is you're my best friend, Lily. You're the best friend I've ever had. (to Ted) Sorry, buddy.
Lily: My turn. Marshall, I love you because you're funny and you make me feel loved and you make me feel safe and for our anniversary, you gave me a sweatshirt that says "Lily and Marshall: Rocking it since '96." I kinda wish I was wearing it right now cause it smells like you. But the main reason I love you, Marshall Eriksen, is you make me happy. You make me happy all the time.

Ted: You know, there really are a million things I could tell you about Lily and Marshall. But really, the only thing you need to know is that 10 years into their relationship, they still couldn't spend a single night apart.

I think the thing I like the most about these two is that they genuinely get each other.  There is a level of understanding and honesty that these two have that is completely unique to any other character's that I've ever seen/read about/watched. Their relationship is real. And it's awesome.

I Could Never Be A Teacher

I could never be a teacher. Not because of the kids. I like kids. But because of the parents. I'm sorry! But they're annoying, rude, and really hard to work with.

Just leave me alone people! Your kids are fine!

i believe (part 2)

That I will someday work on broadway.
That there is a special someone out there for me. And that when we find each other it will
be magical.
That birthdays should be celebrated for an entire week.
In standing up for what you believe in, while remaining flexible enough to respect other's beliefs as well.
In drinking hot chocolate while sitting in a cold apartment.
That talking to sisters will make your whole day better.
In family.
In proximity.
In friendships that endure through many years and miles apart.
In keeping promises.
In trying to make other's day better.
In the Christmas spirit.
In watching A Muppet Christmas Carol. A lot.
In prayer, and faith.
In piling on the blankets before you fall asleep.
In low utility bills.
In loving.
In being happy.

Update

Hey! I'm alive!

I'm currently at Starbucks using free wifi to watch Hulu and use the internet for various nefarious purposes.  It's hard to update because I'm working so much and don't have internet at my apartment.  But here is a quick update for you:

I like my job! It's a lot of work, and a lot of me being hot and tired, but I'm ok with that because I'm learning a lot.  So, work is good.  We open on November 1st, and I'm excited!

I found the ward here to be very intense (in a good way). The first week I went I left with a husband, a place on the youth roadshow committee, and about seven invitations to eat dinner at various people's houses.  Also, I'm the youngest person in Relief Society by 10 years.  At least. I find this to be funny most times.  And then there are times when I wish that I wasn't closer in age to the young women, and that there was another person who wasn't married.

California is hot right now.  Literally.  The heat almost kills me.  But people keep telling me that I'm going to love the weather come November/December. So I'm looking forward to that.

I work about 50 hours a week.  Which keeps me busy enough that I don't socialize much. But I really like the people that I work with so I'm doing good.

That pretty much sums up my life right now. I'm done with Hulu, so I'm going to get out of Starbucks before the creepy looking guy watching me starts to try and talk to me.

California!

I'm moving!

To California!

(Best Part......)

BECAUSE I GOT A JOB!

I am the new production assistant for the Palm Springs Follies, a company that produces a show every season with 9 performances a week.

I am thrilled, and terrified.  And then thrilled..... And then terrified.

I start work on August 16th.  That's 13 days from now. That means that I need to move NEXT WEEK.

What the what?!

I waited around all summer and now things are happening so quickly!

So, I apparently have a Wikipedia page that I didn't write. It says the following:

Lindsi Neilson is a student at BYU studying theatre.
In 2010, Neilson was recognized as most Outstanding Stage Management Student by the stage management, housed in the Theatre and Media Arts department.

I'm left wondering what inspired whoever wrote this. And why.

It's 6:50 in the A.M. and I am sitting at my kitchen table eating pickles and drinking Dr. Pepper. I'm trying to stay awake so I can get my sleep schedule back on track.

Yes, this is the life of a college graduate.

12 hours awake and counting..... (Yes, I am aware that that means I woke up at 7pm yesterday.  I told you I was messed up!)

Sunday, July 10, 2011

So, sometimes when my insomnia is really bad my sleep cycle completely flips.

As in, I sleep all day and am up all night.

All of the stress in my life lately has this happening again.

It's 7:47am and I've been up since 5:00pm yesterday. I'm finally getting tired,  just in time for Church.

Not gonna lie. I may just sleep today.

Overheard On Headset

July 4th, 2011:
(while fireworks are going off on one side of the outdoor theater and a loud outdoor movie is playing on the other side)
"I feel like we're trying to tech in an avalanche full of cats."

 July 5th, 2011:
"Oh! You you wanted me to go THEN? I thought you said something about being handled by black men!"

July 9th, 2011:
"Sometimes I think actors make things harder on purpose.  You know, just to keep me on my toes."
"That's really nice of them."
"Yeah, that's what I keep telling myself."
