My Wonderful Roomates...

Okay, let me just take a second to tell everyone just how wonderful my roommates are.

Siovhan- I knew we were soul mates even before our astrological signs told us so. You are seriously one of the most wonderful people I know, and you put up with a LOT from me. Thanks for dealing with my sleep talking, sleep screaming, and sleep pillow case removing. Although, I'm not so much afraid of your desk eating me as I am about our closet exploding and burying us in clothes and shoes one night. Although, being suffocated by your clothes may not be the worst thing in the world, because you do have great taste. As long as there's some shoes mixed in there, I'm good.

Molly- I personally believe that Molly is, like, the coolest person out of, like, all of the U.S. Americans, and that as such, all other countries such as The Iraq and South Africa should be jealous that, like, they don't have a room mate like Molly. Dance magic dance!!! This for entertaining me with your cool dance moves, and letting me record them on my phone. Of course, you may not even realize what videos I have...... Oh, and for co-introducing me to One Tree Hill!

Melissa- One sentence comes to mind when I think of you. "Love is not love that alters when it alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove." My love for you will last forever babe! Thanks for the hugs, the One Tree Hill, and all the sprinkles ;). Thanks for being excited when ever I go places with you guys, and for making me feel welcome when I first moved in. Whenever I see you, I know that I will shortly forget my problems and will be laughing. Oh, and you are definitely the HOTTEST Peter Pan I've ever seen.

Andrea and Megan- You moved in a week ago, so I don't really know you that well, but from what I've seen (and heard) around the apartment, you girls are definitely cool enough to be hanging out with me ;).

Very Photogenic Sister

I've got a very photogenic sister...

I'm going home!!!!

I am SO EXCITED that I finally get a few days off to go home for Christmas. I've had some trouble at work lately, and getting away from all that seems like a wonderful thing right now. Speaking of getting away, I've got to go pack.

The end of my teenage years

When did I become an adult? It seems to me that it snuck up on me pretty quickly. One day I'm yelling at my brother because he decapitated my favorite doll, and the next I'm at college, living on my own, and paying my own way. I remember when the only thing I had to worry about was whether or not we were having brussel sprouts for dinner. I'm not sad that I'm growing up... More nostalgic. I look at my younger brothers and sisters, and find myself wishing that they would take more time to grow up.
I'm still pretty excited about turning 20 though!

Lindsi is....

Not tired even though it's 1:30 am
Excited (and nervous!) about making her first 3 layer cake tomorrow
Turning 20 in 5 days!
Totally addicted to Dr. Pepper
Loving the fact that she has so many people who care about her
Listening to some great music!
A little scared about the birthday presents that her room mates are giving her..... They won't tell me what it is!!!
Happy about her party tomorrow

Lindsi is.....
Really lucky, really happy, and glad to be where she is

Sleep Deprived

That's basically what I've been feeling like for the past two weeks. My sleep schedule is so erratic that some nights I'll only get 5-6 hours sleep (sometimes less) and then when I do have the chance to sleep, I sleep for almost 10 hours. Which causes a lot of problems including occasionally missing class.... NOT GOOD. I need someone who will pull me out of bed once I shut my alarm clock off.

Moving...

Moving really CAN be fun! Mary, I think that Rachel will forever be wondering what happened to the left sleeves of all her shirts. Sarah and Tomoser will forever be on my good list for coming over at midnight and helping me set up my bed. And I'm also seriously considering painting a modest shirt on the girl in the poster (whom Nick named "Janet" I believe.) Thanks for the help everyone!

Valuable Lessons

Things I have learned this month:

- For every person that dislikes you, there are two that love you
- Laughter really is the best medicine, but like all medicine, sometimes it doesn't work like it should.
- Counting your blessings is a major pain when you're determined to be depressed
- You feel better after counting your blessings :)
- Music makes a bad day better
- Speaking in anger gets you nowhere
- I am often times WAY too self consious
- I need to get over being WAY too self consious

- I have many flaws, most of which I'm sure I'm still unaware of
And last but not least
-No matter how bad of a day I've had, and no matter how bad I mess up..... I AM LOVED!

A new month may be a better one.

Okay, I'm not going to lie.... September really was NOT all that great this year. Mean room mates, evil co-workers, and nasty rumors really messed up these past 30 days for me. I truly am grateful for the friends I have though. I couldn't have made it through without Brittany (who is constantly reminding me that I need to breathe). Trevor, who is always willing to make plans with me and take me out to dinner (no matter how many times I cancel!) Denise, who is always willing to listen, Laurel and Brian, thanks for understanding and offering couches and futons in my time of need, and Tennille, who is always there with a quick hug for the downtrodden. I love you all and I don't think I could have made it through these past few weeks without you!
So, I am dying to take some pictures. The only problem is that I've gotten into the habit of taking them all on slide film, because that's what my visual arts application portfolio has to be in, and slide film is kind of expensive. (sigh) oh well, I'll just have to wait until I've got some money.... I may be waiting awhile.....

WHY?

So... We've got this new cake decorater at work that I'm trying to train. I say trying because she never listens to me. I tell her what to do, how to do it, and let her loose, and she just rolls her eyes and does whatever she wants. I really do not like people like that. I had a feeling that she wouldn't last long..... Well....
It all escalated a few days ago when I asked her to set up some freezer cakes. These are really easy cakes to make, and she knows how to do them, so I let her loose. Her only restrictions were that she make 6 quarter sheet cakes, and 6 half sheet cakes. While icing the cakes, I noticed that she was having problems getting the icing down to the bottom of her bag. I told her that if she simply twisted the bag while pushing down, it would come down a lot easier. She once again rolled her eyes and ignored me. So, getting really tired of all the eye rolling, I turned to her and said. (Nicely... I PROMISE!!!) "you know, I'm just trying to teach you what I know, you really can't get mad at me for that." Well, she didn't like that very much and proceded to yell at me about it. She ended up storming out, and now she refuses to work with me.
I honestly don't get it. I was never mean to her, never rude.... Never ANYTHING except perfectly nice! What makes her think that getting mad at me is going to solve anything? Why is it that people are like that? Where does it get them? Honestly, being rude never gets you anywhere. All it does is make you less of a person in everyone's sight. I'll tell you right now, that the people you remember in 10, 20, or 50 years aren't going to be the one's that are mean to you. You're going to remember the people that helped you, or that loved you. (I'm now taking a deep breath, and releasing the anger that has built up.)

School, friends, and creative writing

So, it's been really crazy the past few weeks. And I mean a lot more crazy than usual. First off, I moved into a new apartment. It's a LOT nicer than my last one, but I don't really fit in with my roomates. They're all really girly, and I'm..... Not.
The good news, however is that all of my friends are back!!! YAY!!! I finally have a social life again! I didn't realize how much I missed them until they came back to me! Brittany, Tennille, Tania, Tina, Trevor... I love you! And I thank you for being there for me and for loving me!
School started, which is good, except now I'm trying to figure out how I had time to do everything last year. School, homework, work, friends.... I now honestly believe that there aren't enough hours in the day in which to get everything done. Speaking of school, I'm taking a creative writing class that is quickly becoming my favorite class. It's strange, I haven't written much, and often times I need a really big push in order to write, but I'm finding that's it's becoming easier and easier as time goes by. My teacher in the class is wonderful because he isn't the kind of person that you'd expect to be teaching a creative writing class. He teaches auto mechanics over at UVSC, and he isn't super eccentric, or really loud or anything... He's the kind of person that will start talking to you about something, and then go off on a large tangent, and then forget what point he was coming to about that subject. It sounds weird, but somehow... It just fits with the class. It's really cool to work with him.
I'm getting a fish. My friend from work got a little 5 gallon fish tank for me, and I'm going fish shopping on Saturday. Is it weird that I'm so excited? I mean, it's just a fish. It'll probably die within 2 weeks of me getting it anyway. Oh well. I wanted a kitten, but they aren't allowed in my apartment. I thought about sneaking on in anyway, but decided that a cat would be much harder to hide than a fish.

It's been awhile..

It's been quite a long time since I last blogged. Partly because there's really nothing new to say, and mostly because I've been busy. I'm working a lot, and I'm having a REALLY hard time finding a new apartment. I waited too long, and now everything is full. I don't know what I'm going to do. Whatever, I'm sure I'll find something. I'm now counting down... Only 2 1/2 weeks until my friends get back!!!! YAY!!!
I'm also thinking of getting a fish... I'll name the fish Butterflake, cute, huh? Brad ( the baker at work) came up with it. We've got these really delicious rolls that we make in the bakery that are called butterflake rolls, and that's where he got the idea from. Anyway, I've got to go to bed. Got to be at work early tomorrow.

Roses and Rosettes

So, something new and interesting is finally happening in my life. Jessie, the Cake Decorator at my work, is tranferring to another store. Which means that I am going to be the new cake decorator! I'm excited, and extremely nervous. Excited because I get to learn something new, and nervous because it is really a lot harder than it looks. So far I have learned (if not mastered) how to make rosebuds, roses, and rosettes. I have yet to master any of them, but at least I'm getting better, and not worse. Now, instead of 1 in 10 of my rosebuds actually looking like rosebuds, 1 in 5 do! Go me! Of course, there are downsides. I never really knew how much frosting could stain.... Everything. My clothes, my hands, my shoes. And, it gets everywhere. I came home from work the other day and took a shower, and I found frosting in my ear. Yeah, don't know how it got there, but it was kind of disturbing. Jessie told me that I should probably expect to find frosting in stranger places than my ear. A lot to look forward to.

DC poster

I just realized that it's been over a month since I've posted, so I decided I had better.... Well, you know, post. Divine Comedy is having a musical review/ reunion show, and they asked me to take the pictures and design the poster. I'm pleased with the results, even though this is my first poster that I've ever designed. Now I'm just worried that everyone else will like it.....

My boring, boring, boring life

Okay, so I never realized just how boring life could be until now. Seriously, since school is out, and all of my friends left to go home..... I have NOTHING to do except work. Sad, huh? My roommate and I don't really know each other well enough to be at the stage where we go out and do stuff together, and all of my friends left for the summer. (sigh)

Moving on to an equally depressing subject... Why in the world do I have the stupid habit of getting crushes on guys that I have little or no chance with?! I would love it if just once, the guy that I was crushing on would crush on me.

Have you ever really thought about the concept of living forever? I was thinking about that the other day. After this life, if we make it into the Celestial Kingdom, we will live forever as Gods and Goddesses. Right? Well, I just realized the other day that the thought of living forever scares the heck out of me. I don't know why. Something about it having no end. Weird.... Maybe it's because I'm not married, so right now, I imagine spending forever by myself. Which would literally be Hell for me.

Went home this weekend, it was a ton of fun. Going home is always really bittersweet for me. On the one hand, it's really great to see my family, and I really do miss them when I'm not there. But, on the other hand.... It seems like everytime I leave and come back, my family gets 10 times louder. It's just easier living by myself. But, I hate being alone.... Man, I think I should just give up on feeling anything.... It's always too complicated.

Work.....

Ahh, work. How we both love it (for the money) and regret that we have to do it. I like my job, I really do. But, there are some people that just drive me insane! I've only been working at Albertsons for about a month and a half, and it really surprises me at how rude people can be sometimes. Like this couple that came in about a half an hour before we closed, I had already pulled back the day old rack (the rack that holds all of this stuff that is still good, but is a day after it's experation date), and they asked me where it was. I explained to them that we pulled the rack back about an hour and a half before we closed, so that we had time to make up a shrink report. They got mad and told me that they wanted to speak to my manager, and when i told them that Diann (my manager) wasn't here, they got even more pissed off and stormed out of the store. I really don't understand why people get so mad about such trivial things! Give me a break people! In the eternal scheme of things, is the fact that you couldn't get a cake that is usually 6.99 for 4.99 going to make a difference?! The simple truth is that it won't. So, this is an announcement for stupid people everywhere.... Get a life! And stop ruining mine! ( Lindsi is now taking a deep breath, stepping off the soapbox, and feeling a lot better!)

First year of college is over....

So, my first year of college is over, and I have to say that I am both grateful and nostalgic. It seems like everytime I blink, another few years have past and I'm older. I moved into my first apartment on Monday, and I'm really enjoying it. Except for the fact that I now have to cook. I've never been good at cooking, and now that I have to find my own food.... Let's just say that I think I'll be eating a little less often these days.

So, lately I've been debating about going on a mission. I know that it's a little early to be thinking about that, but it's been on my mind lately.....

I was at the DI the other day, and I saw the COOLEST thing. An old silver teapot, complete with the milk and sugar cups! I really wanted to buy it, but had to wait until payday.

I have wanted one of these things since I was, like, 6 years old! And to find one at the DI, where I can get if for 15 dollars.... Awesome. I firmly believe that every college apartment should have several weird, random things in it. And I am well on the way to achieving my beliefs. :)

Lions, tigers, and bears.... Who cares?

So, the headliner for this next Divine Comedy show is the Wizard of Oz. They took pictures for the posters last week, and as one of the prop managers for DC, it is mine and Peta's job to get them the props that they need for the poster. This usually takes a few hours with the two of us working together... However, the day before the photoshoot, Peta got sick, so sick she couldn't get out of bed. So, it fell to me to get everything ready. It took me two days, with 6 hours sleep, in order to get everything prepared! It was so worth it though, the poster is going to be awesome!
I am really excited about this weekend because of all of the fun things that are going on. Today all of the girls in DC are going to have a huge sleepover at Laurel's house! Then, tomorrow we are going up to Springhaven, which is the funnest place ever! I am so glad the week is over!

Happy V-day Everyone!

So.... I have a date for this Friday! I'm really excited! And, my application for the visual arts prgram is officialy due tomorrow! I'm almost done with it, just putting the finishing touches on a few things.... I'm am so scared! More scared than I think I have ever been, because I want this so badly. I just keep telling myself over and over again that I probably won't get in, but that I have to keep trying.

Finally, some new pictures.....
